Some economic experts believe that the implementation of this project could bring a transformation to Afghanistan’s economy and provide significant benefits to Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
“Connecting to the railway reduces import and export costs, allowing us to gain a better position in international markets and benefit from it,” said Abdul Jabbar Safi, head of the Kabul Industrialists Association.
“With this project, Afghanistan will become a transit route. This railway will enable the transportation of goods between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and vice versa, bringing significant economic benefits to Afghanistan and contributing to the country’s economic stability,” said Zabiullah Islami, an economic affairs expert.
The Trans-Afghan project, which aims to connect Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan via railway, is estimated to cost around five billion dollars.
