The Director General of PAYF, Mr. Salman Javed, discussed “Afghan Interim Government – Inclusivity, Governance, and Security” at an Institute of Regional Studies conference titled “Future Prospects for Afghanistan and the Region”. The session was moderated by Ambassador (r) Abrar Hussain under the theme “Afghanistan’s Internal Political Dynamics”.
DG, PAYF discussed the dire situation that led to IEA’s takeover of Kabul on 15th August, and the events that followed, Errors in Judgement, Governance and Politics, Goals Achieved; Economy & Security.
Additionally, DG ISSI Amb Aizaz, journalist Hassan Khan, and Heather Bar, Associate Director at Human Rights Watch, participated on the panel. They also talked about deep-rooted causes relating to issues of governance in Afghanistan and the need for inclusivity to bolster people’s confidence & to address animosity within. The session was concluded on a note that decades of war had already destroyed the nation-building process. It is now imperative that the international community help Afghanistan rebuild itself since it is the Afghans who suffer now and have suffered in the past.
