Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, was warmly received by senior officials of the Interim Afghan Government (IAG) upon his arrival in Kabul yesterday evening. In a high-level meeting with Acting Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, both sides discussed enhancing bilateral relations and resolving pressing issues of regional stability through mutual cooperation.
The Pakistani delegation extended condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his cabinet, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar over the martyrdom of Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani. Expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved family and the Afghan people, Ambassador Sadiq emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to honoring shared sacrifices while striving for collective progress.

During the meeting, Sirajuddin Haqqani highlighted the cultural, religious, and historical ties that bind the two nations. He underlined the importance of accelerating joint efforts to address security and political challenges, ensuring peace, and fostering regional stability.
Ambassador Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen economic and people-to-people connections, stating, “Through shared determination and collaboration, we can overcome challenges and pave the way for a brighter future for our people.”
The meeting concluded with both sides emphasizing continued cooperation and dialogue to further solidify Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and ensure regional peace and development.
