Women Entrepreneurs in Herat Thrive Through Online Businesses

Some women entrepreneurs say that due to existing restrictions and challenges, online business suits them and has helped them grow their businesses in a short period of time.

Najiba Sadat has engaged in online business for almost a year.

She takes online orders for food and delivers it to her customers. By setting up this small business, Najiba has been able to provide job opportunities for four women and two men.

Najiba Sadat told TOLOnews: “Due to many restrictions on women, it wasn’t possible to work in person. Working from home is safer, and I can manage both my household chores and my online activities. I’ve had good results. My daughter has an online business, and seeing her success motivated me, as she has also been successful.”

Khatira Jami, another entrepreneur, has been selling books online for several months. She takes orders from customers and imports the necessary books from Iran.

Khatira Jami, an online business entrepreneur, said: “I thought about what I could do under these circumstances to find a way for myself. I’m happy that I turned to this profession. Since the day I started, girls have been accompanying me, and we are promoting a reading culture. I was motivated since I was in school, and now I am in a better situation.”

Online businesses for women in Herat primarily operate through social media platforms. Many women and girls, after being deprived of education and work, have turned to this method of business.
