Following reports about a proposed list of diplomats from the Islamic Emirate to India, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate Zabihullah Mujahid has stated that the presence of diplomats from both countries in New Delhi and Kabul is a necessity, and discussions on the matter are ongoing.
Zabihullah Mujahid told TOLOnews that the Islamic Emirate is working to expand its diplomatic relations with other countries.
The spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate said: “Efforts are being made to ensure India’s diplomatic presence in Afghanistan and Afghanistan’s diplomatic presence in India. Now, the conditions have become favorable for both countries to have diplomatic representation, and the Islamic Emirate is considering this and engaging in dialogue.”

Meanwhile, some media outlets of India have reported that the Islamic Emirate has sent a proposed list of its diplomats to New Delhi. According to these reports, Najib Shaheen, the son of Suhail Shaheen, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador in Doha, is also included in this list.
A section of an Indian media report states: “The Taliban has also reportedly submitted a new list of proposed diplomats to Indian authorities, which includes Najib Shaheen, the son of Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban representative in Doha.”
Political analysts believe that expanding diplomatic relations between the Islamic Emirate and India at this time could benefit both countries.
“At present, the Islamic Emirate has been able to work on building trust to enhance engagement with Afghanistan. India shares common interests with Afghanistan and can work on agreements with the country,” said Abdul Sadeq Hamidzoy, a political affairs analyst.
“India’s relations with Afghanistan contribute to regional and global stability. Whether one likes it or not, India’s ties with Afghanistan are growing daily, evolving, and entering new stages. Ultimately, Afghanistan and India will become strategic partners,” said Fazl Rahman Oria, another political analyst.
Previously, on November 13, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate confirmed the appointment of Ikramuddin Kamil as the acting consul general of Afghanistan in Mumbai, India.
