Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, has expressed optimism that the caretaker government’s formal and diplomatic interactions with other countries will increase in 2025.

According to Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate took constructive steps in the previous year toward recognition and engagement with various countries, yielding positive outcomes.

The spokesperson stated: “In 2025, based on the efforts of the Islamic Emirate, we are hopeful that more countries will join this path and establish diplomatic connections with Afghanistan. We see signs of this happening, and it has also been predicted.”

The establishment of an inclusive government, adherence to human rights—particularly women’s rights—and ensuring Afghan soil is not used against other countries are considered global conditions for the recognition of the Islamic Emirate. The Islamic Emirate has consistently said it has fulfilled these requirements.

Meanwhile, the removal of Islamic Emirate officials’ names from the United Nations blacklist, the release of frozen national funds, and the recognition of the caretaker government are listed as the Islamic Emirate’s demands from the international community.

“According to international principles and global laws, three factors are essential for recognition: a system must have control over the entire geography, a population must exist, and the government must provide governance and services to the people. Currently, Afghanistan has governance, a population, and the provision of services to its people,” said Abdul Jamil Shirani, a political analyst.

“There is a need to address the commitments placed on the current government during the Doha negotiations or the Doha Agreement,” said Abdul Nasir Shafiq, another political analyst.

Meanwhile, according to Islamic Emirate officials, around 40 embassies and political representations from various countries are currently active in Afghanistan, and the caretaker government has diplomatic missions in more than 20 countries.
