Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) organization reported that 13 Afghan citizens were executed in Iran over the past month.
The report said that in ten months of this year, 49 Afghan citizens have been executed on various charges.
According to the calculations of the IHRNGO, the number of Afghans executed in Iran has reached 90 since the Islamic Emirate took control in Afghanistan.
The report states: “In nearly the past three years, 90 Afghans have been executed in Iran. Sixteen people were executed in 2022, 25 in 2023, and 49 in the first ten months of 2024.”
“Every country has its own laws. Whenever foreign nationals enter a country, they must obey those laws; otherwise, if they act against the laws, they face punishment,” said Sayed Moqaddam, a legal expert.

The Islamic Emirate said that they are working to negotiate with Iranian officials to transfer Afghan prisoners back to Afghanistan.

Fitrat said: “We are trying to reach an agreement with the Iranian side to transfer those prisoners who have been charged with various offenses in Iran back to Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, some political analysts said that investigations should be conducted into the circumstances surrounding the execution of Afghan citizens in Iran and that assurances should be made regarding their access to legal support.
“There should be an investigation to determine whether Afghans were given the opportunity for legal representation,” said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.
Earlier, the Iranian deputy for legal and international affairs stated that nearly 95% of Iran’s foreign prisoners are Afghan citizens.
