Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced on Tuesday that he would send a delegation of tribal elders to Afghanistan for talks, claiming that federal government’s approach for peace with the neighbouring country did not bear fruit.

Gandapur said in Dera Ismail Khan that he would resolve the issue of Afghanistan through negotiations. “The federal government has not achieved any success in talks with Afghanistan.

Therefore, I am sending a provincial delegation to Afghanistan very soon,” said Gandapur.

“The delegation will go to Afghanistan within two weeks and hold talks. We will find a solution to the problems,” he said, adding that the delegation would comprise leaders of all tribes.

“I hope that they [the Afghan side] will cooperate with our jirga.”

The chief minister said that the government was filing cases against opposition politicians in the country.

He said that the government had kept the PTI founder in jail for establishing the Al-Qadir Trust and providing free education.
