Abdul Latif Mansour, the acting Minister of Energy and Water, has traveled to Bamyan province with the Chinese ambassador. He announced the construction of a solar power plant in the province.
China will build this plant, which has a production capacity of 20 megawatts of solar energy, with its grant assistance.
The acting Minister of Energy and Water stated that China has promised to provide 20 megawatts of solar power. This includes 10 megawatts from batteries and 10 megawatts from solar energy.
Matiullah Abid, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Water, said: “The technical team that has come to Bamyan has completed the initial survey and promised to submit a proposal from the Chinese embassy to their government to finance the project.”

Residents of Bamyan hope that activating solar power production will solve many of their problems.
Abdullah Sarhadi, the governor of Bamyan, said, “The people pledge that the land belongs to the government, and they are demanding electricity. If the Chinese ambassador cooperates, the people will be very happy.”
Mohammad Amin, one of the residents of Bamyan, said, “The lack of electricity has caused many problems for the people. Phones are off, and homes are dark.”
Ismail, another resident of Bamyan, said, “Providing electricity is very beneficial for the people, especially for businesses and the region’s economy, which will improve with this project.”
Currently, Bamiyan produces about 4 megawatts of solar and diesel power, which lights more than 4,000 families.
However, thousands of other families in Bamyan’s center and districts light their homes using small solar panels and batteries.
