First Photography Studio for Women Opens in Badakhshan

A couple in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, has established the first photography studio exclusively for women.

The purpose of this photography studio is stated to be providing convenience and accessibility for the women of Badakhshan.

Bismillah Mohammadi, the manager of the women’s photography studio, said: “Previously, there was no photography workshop exclusively for women. My wife and I decided to create this studio, and currently, four young women are working here.”

Sheela Sahar, the deputy manager of the women’s photography studio, stated: “We established this photography studio so that women could comfortably take photos.”

Several women who have come to this studio for photos and document printing say they feel comfortable in a place dedicated to women.

Ayesha, a resident of Badakhshan, said: “We are very happy about the establishment of this studio and can easily print our photos.”

Muneera, another resident of Badakhshan, said: “Previously, I used to take photos at home with my mobile and then give them to my brother to get them printed. But since this studio has been established, I come here with peace of mind to print my photos.”

Meanwhile, the Faizabad municipality reports that over the past year, nearly 2,000 individuals have received work permits in various fields, including handicrafts.

Atiqullah Amani, the spokesperson for Faizabad municipality, said: “In the past year, we have distributed work permits to more than 1,800 individuals in various fields, including carpet weaving, tailoring, qanat construction, restaurants, and poultry farming.”

According to information from the Badakhshan Directorate of Industry and Commerce, more than 1,000 women in 15 districts of this province are currently engaged in small business activities.
