Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA’ to Hit Sindh and Balochistan

Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA’ is located over the Northeast Arabian Sea. It can cause widespread rain, wind-thunderstorms, and urban flooding. This will affect areas along the coastline of Sindh and Balochistan.

The National Emergencies Operation Center has anticipated a deep depression over Rann of Kutch, India. This system is approaching the west-southwest of Pakistan and currently lies about 170 kilometers east and southeast of Karachi. Furthermore, the system is likely to continue moving west and southwest in the northeast Arabian Sea along the Sindh coast. Consequently, it is expected to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm by Friday evening.

Heavy and extremely heavy rainfall will impact Karachi division, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, and Shaheed Benazirabad districts by tomorrow.

Widespread rain and wind-thunderstorms are likely in Hub, Lasbela, Awaran, Kech, and Gwadar districts. The weather will also bring scattered heavy and very heavy rainfall. This weather will occur from today to Sunday, with occasional gaps.

Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA’ Triggers Coastal Safety Warnings

Under Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA,’ sea conditions are likely to remain rough and very rough. Squally winds will range from 50 to 60 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching 70 kilometers per hour.

Windstorms may damage crops and loose structures, while thunderstorms can increase risk of lightning strikes.

Authorities advise Sindh fishermen to stay out of the sea until tomorrow and Balochistan fishermen until Sunday. The general public should avoid seaside and beach areas and stay cautious of loose structures like billboards, electrical poles, solar panels, and hoardings.
