Seven Militants Killed in Intelligence-Based Operations in DI Khan

RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed seven militants in two separate encounters in the Dera Ismail (DI) Khan district on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to the ISPR, the engagements with the terrorists, referred to as Khwarij a term used for members of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) took place in the Daraban and Maddi areas of the district.

“On reported presence of Khwarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the Security Forces in general area Daraban. During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarijs’ location, resultantly, four khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR statement said.

“In another encounter that took place in general area Maddi, own troops effectively neutralized three khwarij. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” it added. According to the ISPR, sanitization operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area as “the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism” from the country.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the successful operations in Dera Ismail Khan and lauded the security forces for their bravery in eliminating seven terrorists. He said that the operations would continue until the eradication of terrorism from the country.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also praised the security forces for their successful operations against the terrorists. “The nefarious designs of these enemies of humanity will be crushed,” he said. “The war against terrorism will continue until the complete elimination of terrorism,” he added.
