No Proof That Pakistan Supplied Arms to Ukraine: Russian Diplomat

Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert P. Khorev, has categorically dismissed media reports alleging that Pakistan supplied arms to Ukraine, calling such claims completely baseless.

Speaking at a special briefing at The Express Tribune’s Peshawar office, Khorev stated, “We have not found any proof of Pakistani arms supplies in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. All such claims are baseless.” He emphasized that Pakistan and Russia enjoy strong diplomatic relations, and such reports aim to create misunderstandings.

Khorev addressed broader regional security concerns, particularly in Afghanistan, where he acknowledged that efforts to combat militancy have been insufficient. However, he attributed these shortcomings to economic challenges and the deteriorating security situation in the war-torn country.

He identified ISIS-K (Islamic State Khorasan) as the biggest threat to regional security, adding that Russia is closely monitoring the situation. To counter terrorism, Moscow is actively engaging regional partners through the “Quartet” format, which includes Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran.

Khorev also highlighted Russia’s collaboration with regional countries under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to combat militancy. He reaffirmed Moscow’s strong commitment to supporting Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other regional states in counterterrorism efforts.

He stressed that Pakistan remains an important partner in regional stability and that both countries must work together to address evolving security threats.

The Russian envoy reiterated that bilateral relations between Islamabad and Moscow are on a positive trajectory, with ongoing discussions on trade, energy, and defense cooperation.

Khorev concluded by stating that Russia seeks long-term engagement with Pakistan in multiple strategic domains, ensuring that both nations benefit from sustained cooperation.
