A tree-planting initiative titled “Green Legacy” has been launched in Kabul by the Kabul Municipality and the National Environmental Protection Agency.
Sadr Azam Osmani, deputy minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, announced during the program that 16 million saplings will be planted across the country this year.
Regarding the “Green Legacy” initiative, He stated: “The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a tree-planting campaign in all provinces, and this year 16 million saplings will be planted throughout the country.”

Officials from the National Environmental Protection Agency and Kabul Municipality have also outlined their plans for planting both fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing trees and have urged citizens to actively participate in this effort.
Zainul Abedin Abed, deputy of the National Environmental Protection Agency, mentioned: “The plan has been prepared and, after cabinet approval, has been sent to the office of Sheikh Sahib Amir-ul-Mu’minin. This initiative will be carried forward with the full coordination of all relevant institutions.”
Meanwhile, Abdul Wakil Mutawakel, head of greenery at Kabul Municipality, added: “Each of us must plant a tree—one for ourselves and one for our parents.”
At the same event, the political officer of UNAMA reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting Afghanistan in its reconstruction and revitalization efforts.

At the conclusion of the program, organizers urged citizens to participate in the upcoming spring tree-planting campaign at Bagh-e Babur and contribute to the country’s greenery.
