Islamabad – A recent webinar hosted by the Pak Afghan Youth Forum shed light on the complex issues surrounding Afghanistan, including governance, displacement, and immigration. The webinar, moderated by Muneeba Rasikh, brought together a panel of experts, including Vice Chairman, Institute of Policy Studies, Islamabad, Ambassador (R) Syed Abrar Hussain, Assistant Professor, NUML, Sajid Iqbal Khattak, and Afghan Activist, Dr. Zia ur Rehman, to discuss the severity of the crisis and potential solutions.
The experts highlighted alarming statistics, such as 80% of clinics and hospitals facing resource scarcity, 1 million secondary school girls having stopped studying, and 67% of households lacking access to clean drinking water. They emphasized the need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach to address these issues.
The discussion also touched on the importance of differentiating between the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the IEA, as well as the need for institutional coordination between Pakistan and Afghanistan to address the refugee issue.
The webinar was attended by students, academics, activists, and policymakers, and provided a platform for experts to share their insights and for the audience to engage in a Q&A session. The Pak Afghan Youth Forum aims to promote understanding and cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and this webinar was a step towards achieving that goal.
