RAWALPINDI: Security forces have foiled an attempt to smuggle a heavy consignment of foreign weapons into Pakistan from Afghanistan which was to be used for terrorist activities inside the country.

The sources said the security forces had confiscated truck loaded with weapons at Ghulam Khan border terminal adjacent to Pak-Afghan border on January 08.

Security forces recovered foreign weapons and magazines including 26 M16 rifles, 292 magazines and 10,000 bullets of M16 and M4 rifles, nine magazines and 244 bullets of Kalashnikov and 744 bullets of light machine gun.

The source said that weapons were recovered from hidden compartments made inside the truck and the same was packed in Afghanistan to smuggle into the Pakistan. “In the past also, the security forces have recovered such foreign weapons from terrorists of Fitna Al Khwarij.”

Recovery of such weapons from Fitna Al Khwarij is evidence of the fact that the soil of Afghanistan is being used against Pakistan for terror activities”, the sources said. The sources said that the IEA and Fitna Al Khwarij reject use of Afghan soil against Pakistan but facts deny their claims.

Defence experts say that presence of Khwarij in Afghanistan is clear evidence of connivance between the IEA and Khwarij. Khwarij are also facilitated from Afghan check posts at border.
